Electrical
2019-04-26Issue: A problem with the engine-block heater cable or the terminals that connect the heater cable to the block heater could cause a short circuit. Note: This problem only affects trucks equipped with a Duramax diesel 6.6 litre engine and the optional engine-block heater cable. Safety Risk: A short circuit could cause damage to engine components and create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to either replace the engine-block heater or replace both the engine-block heater and cord, depending on the model. Do not use your engine-block heater until the repairs are performed.

Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and provide improved attachments for the tonneau cover.
Electrical
2019-06-28Issue: On certain trucks equipped with a power sliding rear window, the rear defroster circuit could overheat. This could cause melting, smoke or, in rare instances, a fire. Safety Risk: A fire could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the covers for the buss bar and contacts for the rear sliding window. If the rear window or sliding glass assembly are damaged due to a problem with the rear defroster, they will also be replaced.

Brakes
2019-12-12Issue: On certain vehicles, the electronic stability control (ESC) and antilock brake system (ABS) could turn off due to a software error. If this happens, the vehicle's ESC and ABS warning lights would not turn on. Safety Risk: If a driver is not aware that the ESC and ABS systems are not working, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the Electronic Brake Control Module software.

Electrical arcing could damage surrounding material and increase the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the connection between the positive battery cable and the alternator. If necessary, it will be cleaned and reattached. If the nut, cable or terminal are damaged, the dealer will replace the damaged parts.
Brakes
2020-01-30Issue: Certain trucks that were repaired under recall 2019-630 (GM #N192268090) received a software update that has an error. As a result, a second repair is required. The software error can cause the following symptoms: if the truck is started remotely using the Onstar mobile app or if an operator enters the truck and waits five or more minutes before starting it, the electronic brake assist could be disabled. This would also cause the ESC (electronic stability control), ABS (antilock brake system) and BRAKE warning lights to turn on. Safety Risk: If the electronic brake assist is disabled, there would be a longer brake pedal travel. This could cause reduced braking and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the Electronic Brake Control Module with the correct software.

This could lead to an increase in stopping distance or a loss of control. Safety Risk: Reduced braking or a loss of control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to bring your truck to a dealer to replace the spare tire and wheel. The dealer will also apply a new spare tire information label over the existing tire label.
