2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Issue: On certain vehicles, the transmission oil cooler hose may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the hose could burst and leak transmission fluid. Safety Risk: A transmission fluid leak could create the risk of fire. Corrective Actions: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the transmission oil cooler hoses. The hoses will be replaced, if necessary.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the daytime running lamps (DRLs) will remain on when the driver switches the front fog lamps on. A recent change to Canadian regulations requires the DRLs to turn off when the fog lights are switched on. Safety Risk: Daytime running lamps that stay on in foggy conditions could cause glare and reduced visibility. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the body control module.

Issue: On certain Grand Cherokee L models, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the radio software.

Issue: On certain Grand Cherokee L models, the driver may not be able to switch on the high beam headlamps if the light switch is set to the AUTO position. Note: This recall only affects vehicles that are not equipped with the "automatic high beams" function. Safety Risk: High beam headlamps that do not switch on may cause reduced visibility and could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the vehicle software.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the occupant restraint controller (ORC) may not work properly due to a software error. This could cause the airbag warning light to not turn on when there is a problem with the airbag system. Safety Risk: An airbag that does not work properly could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the occupant restraint controller software.

Issue: On certain Grand Cherokee L models, an incomplete software update could cause one or both of the headlamps not to switch on. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a smart lighting module (SLM). Safety Risk: Headlamp(s) that do not switch on could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the smart lighting module (SLM).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the steering gear rack bar could bend. If this happens, it may be difficult to steer the vehicle or you could lose steering control. Safety Risk: A sudden increase in steering effort or a loss of steering could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the steering gear assembly.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the upper tether anchorages for child seats may not be properly welded to the second-row seat frame(s). As a result, the child seat tether strap could detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A child seat that is not properly secured could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and, if necessary, replace the second-row seatback frame(s).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve could stick open. Under certain driving conditions, this could cause the engine to stall and result in a loss of power to the wheels. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 3.6 L engine. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the EGR valve.

Issue: Certain vehicles may have been built with a damaged side marker in the left and/or right tail lamp(s). As a result, the side marker lamp(s) may not work. Safety Risk: Driving with a side marker lamp that does not work could make the vehicle less visible and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and replace the body-mounted tail lamp assemblies, as required.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the intermediate steering shaft may not have been assembled correctly. As a result, the steering shaft could separate from the universal joint and cause a loss of steering. Note: This recall affects 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Grand Cherokee L models. Safety Risk: A loss of steering could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the intermediate steering shaft.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear coil springs may not have been installed correctly. As a result, the spring(s) could detach from the vehicle while driving. Note: This recall affects 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Grand Cherokee L models. Safety Risk: A coil spring that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the rear coil spring assemblies, and repair them as necessary.

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to not appear on the display screen. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the central vision processing/park assist module software.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the bolt(s) for the upper control arm ball joint(s) may have been damaged during production. As a result, the bolt(s) could fail and cause the upper control arm(s) to separate from the knuckle(s). Note: This recall affects 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Grand Cherokee L models. Safety Risk: An upper control arm that separates could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the upper control arm bolt(s).

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display. Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by an FCA dealer during recall 64A (Transport Canada recall no. 2023-336) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, the rear coil springs may not have been installed correctly. As a result, the spring(s) could detach from the vehicle while driving. Note: This recall affects 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Grand Cherokee L models. Safety Risk: A coil spring that detaches from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, repair the rear coil spring assemblies.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the power transfer unit (PTU) could become damaged and fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels and/or the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't applied. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a two-speed PTU. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels or a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury and/or a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.
